Navigating the Future - The Facts, Fiction & Ripple Effect of Driverless Cars

It took 20 years for people to accept “driverless” elevators. How long will it take for us to let computers take the wheel of our cars and what new directions will be have to navigate?

Autonomous, or “driverless” cars, make headlines on a weekly basis. But the functional reality of those vehicles, the timeline for their adoption and their impact on travel and other aspects of our lives remains cloudy. No one is more interested and challenged by the implications of this technology than the insurance industry. Andrew will explore what is here today, what will be here tomorrow and the potential positive and negative implications of its arrival.

Andrew was founder and CEO of Richmond based Elephant Insurance until 2012 when he became CEO of compare.com.

Formerly called Comparenow.com, the company is a comparison shopping website for auto insurance and other intangible products. Compare.com is a sister company of Confused.com, the United Kingdom's first car insurance comparison site.

Another New Venue

8000 Brook Road - Richmond, VA 23227

Located on a beautifully manicured 84 acre campus near the intresection of I-95N and Parham Road in Richmond's northside, St. Joseph’s Villa is the longest continuously operating children’s nonprofit organization in the country. It was founded in 1834 by the Daughters of Charity, a religious group of women called upon to care for Richmond’s orphaned and impoverished children.

Today it is a non-sectarian organization serving children and families facing mental illness, homelessness, autism and other challenges.  St. Joseph's Villa currently offer eighteen programs that serve 3,000 children and families each year, helping them reach their potential and live more full and independent lives.

We will have coffee in the rotunda of the administration building and then move to the beautifully restored chapel for the morning's program.
