DATA DRIVEN TRANSFORMATION & INNOVATION

February 27, 2018 - 7:30 AM
Richmond Police Academy

Dr. Peter AIKEN

VCU Professor and Founder of DataBlueprint

“Organizations are all about data, until they are not just about data!

Data, like cash, is an indispensable part of a company’s operations. Like cash, some companies use it better than others, and better use leads to better results. Companies, and industries, are being transformed by access to data.

Our February speaker has spent more than 30 years helping companies and organizations bring clarity, function and efficiency to their collection and use of data, and he will share what he has learned about how you can use it to transform and innovate.

Dr. Peter Aiken is a VCU professor, entrepreneur, researcher and author of more than 10 books on data management. He has assisted more than 150 organizations in 30 countries, and is an accomplished speaker. Since 1999, he has hosted the longest running webinar series dedicated to data management.

In 1999, he founded Data Blueprint Inc, a consulting firm that helps organizations leverage data for profit, improvement, competitive advantage and operational efficiency. He is a past President of the International Data Management Association and Associate Director of the MIT International Society of Chief Data Officers.

OUR FEBRUARY HOST

The Richmond Police Training Academy

While we are committed to seeing new locations for most of our breakfasts, we sometimes revisit venues that have a impact beyond just the location. The Richmond Police Academy is one of those venues and we are returning to it 23 months after our first visit. In March of 2016, we visited the Academy and even took some of our attendees far outside their comfort zones and visited the MILO "use of force simulator" at the facility.

Situated on the campus of Virginia Union University, the Richmond Police Training Academy provides high quality training for police recruits, veteran sworn personnel, and civilian employees, Instruction offered by Academy staff includes basic recruit training, firearms training, and computer training. The facility also has a museum that tells the story of the Richmond Police.
