Eva DeVirgilis is an actor, speaker, activist and artist from New York City who now is “ecstatic to call Richmond her home”. Eva has been called an "entertainment dynamo," and an “on-stage powerhouse” by critics, and we think you’ll agree. She has an important message and is a great public speaker. Her TEDxRVA talk is the most watched in TEDxRVA history.
Eva coaches and consults with organizations in developing dynamic, outside-the-box presentations and leads seminars on team-building using the Rules of Improv Comedy. (No ’trust-falls’ she promises.) She is also a consultant and adjunct professor of public speaking at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Business.
While working as a makeup artist between acting gigs in NYC, Eva heard women constantly apologizing for their appearance while sitting in her chair. She shared these perspectives on self-esteem, body image, and often unrealistic 21st Century beauty standards through her internationally renowned TEDxRVA presentation. Response to the presentation flourished into an around the world research trip to see how other cultures viewed the same issues. The tour was commissioned by the New Works division of Virginia Repertory Theatre, and the results will be debuted as "In My Chair", a new solo-show, both written and performed by her. Co-produced by Virginia Rep and Cadence Theatre Company Opening March 2nd-23rd, 2019.
We think you’ll laugh and cry with her as she brings these makeup chair conversations to life, and leave inspired to encourage yourself and your clients to be more confident and to stop apologizing.
Eva’s other acting credits include theatre in New York, Philadelphia, and Richmond. She has appeared in Law & Order: Criminal Intent, AMC’s Turn; Washington's Spies. Legends & Lies, and can currently be seen waxing comically in 5 hilarious Capital One commercials.
She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from The New School University in NYC. She's happily married to crooner, actor, and U.S. Navy Reserve Sailor: Scott Wichmann. Be sure to visit Eva’s website to find out more about her.
