In July we will hear from Ed McLaughlin, VCU's Director of Athletics.  Ed is focused on the success of VCU's athletes on the field and in the classroom, but he is also a major player in the redevelopment of one of Richmond's well-known neighborhoods. He will update us on the major changes coming to VCU Athletics and also to Richmond's "Diamond District".

VCU is planning a 40 acre "Athletic Village" that will include a tennis center, soccer stadium, outdoor track and more on a site just across the street from the aging Diamond. The city is about to announce a 60-acre development project that will include a new ballpark to be shared by the Richmond Flying Squirrels and VCU baseball team. Together, these two projects will transform a major neighborhood near the city center, and Ed will tell us about the details and the long term implications of the efforts.
