PATRICK HENRY "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death"
One of Virginia's first encorepreneurs, Patrick Henry, will speak at the April Encorepreneur meeting. Mr. Henry will re-enact his famous "give me liberty or give me death" speech that inspired the Second Virginia Convention to take actions that set the stage for the American Revolution in March of 1775. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and other delegates to the Convention will be on hand to mingle with attendees and offer their insight on Mr. Henry's speech.
Born in 1736 in nearby Hanover County, Patrick Henry was one of the first encorepreneurs in Virginia. He began his career in retail, soon switched to farming and later briefly tried the military. Looking for new challenges, he studied law in Williamsburg and tried his hand at practicing criminal law where he discovered his passion for politics. The year after his speech that stirred the delegates of the Second Virginia Convention to action, Mr. Henry was elected as the first Virginia Governor under the Commonwealth's new Constitution.
