At our May meeting, we’ll visit the “new” Virginia Museum of History & Culture and hear from VMHC President & CEO Jamie Bosket about Virginia’s plans for America’s 250th—the celebration of our founding and the role the Commonwealth played in it. We’ll also get an inside look at the reimagined VMHC, recently refreshed by a $30 million renovation, and what it’s doing to make history more engaging and relevant today. If you’re interested, you can even take a quick tour after the meeting.

VMHC has been a leader in planning for this celebration for nearly a decade. Since 2017, it has helped bring together leaders across the Commonwealth—work that led to the creation of the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission, which now leads the state’s official effort. Throughout the effort, the museum’s approach hasn’t been “dust off the history books.” It’s been more like: here’s our story, here’s how it shaped the country, and here’s why it still matters.
