"THE SILVER TSUNAMI"
PAIGE WILSONFounder & CEO
Register
People of all ages are about to be hit by multiple waves from the "Silver Tsunami" that is coming. With 11,000 Baby Boomers turning 65 every day, by 2035 the number of seniors in the US is going to outnumber children for the first time in history. By 2050, the number of Americans over 80 – those needing the most care -- is going to triple, while the number of family caregivers available to help is dropping by over 50%. At the same time, 3 in 10 healthcare workers are considering leaving the profession. Our country is facing a caregiver crisis.
Local communities, the federal government, the investment community and the millions of children of Baby Boomers are all keenly focused on aspects of this $8 trillion Longevity Economy. Along with the challenges, there are also myriad opportunities as the Boomer generation is poised to outnumber and outspend every other generation in the world.
Our September speaker is Paige Wilson, a former investment banker, CFO of a Fortune 1000 company and Founder and CEO of Naborforce. She will talk about these unprecedented trends and how they will affect American life in the future. She will tell us about how Naborforce is using technology to harness the strength of community. Paige will also speak candidly about what it’s like to found a startup, raise capital and build a business after age 50 (a true “Encore Entrepreneur”).
Naborforce is a platform that connects older adults to a network of “Nabors” for social engagement and on-demand support for errands, transportation and help around the home. Paige founded the company after caring for her mother for an extended period of time. Over the last year, Naborforce has grown its revenue over 1,000 percent and client base by over 800 percent. In addition, Wilson earned a coveted spot in the TechStars Future of Longevity Cohort, won the AARP’s third annual Consumer Technology Association Foundation Pitch competition, and was invited to present to the Senate Committee on Aging.
